Summary:
In this role as a System Engineer you will design, develop and validate production products and technology such that capability, cost, and quality satisfy the customer requirements.
Major Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and validate new products and technology such that capability, cost, and quality satisfy the customer requirements.
- Ensure that system engineering process deliverables are completed on time per the project schedule and meet Aptiv quality standards.
- Defines the System Functions and allocates the System Elements to build up the Functional Architecture
- Identify and document product use cases and system functions in the product requirement documents
- Specify product requirements based on use cases for all engineering competencies.
- Follow APTIV design standards, guidelines, best practices, procedures, and policies.
- Participate in requirement/design peer reviews for projects within the Advanced Safety and User Experience segment
- Ensure the logical and systematic transformation of customer requirements into a total system solution which meets scheduling, technical and cost constraints.
- Perform technical planning, analyze & manage requirements, contribute to system architecture & design, and execute system integration tests.
- Convert customer requirements into product system requirements.
- End to end responsible for product features and functions. Works with other engineering competencies to ensure proper development, execution and verification of requirements.
- Lead and/or perform technical design analysis, trade off studies, FMEAs, design reviews and customer presentations
- Develop innovative and creative solutions to unique engineering challenges by drawing upon your technical talents, passion, creativity and experience.
- System Engineers are the focal point of technical discussions. You will drive cross-competency teams while reporting out to management and customers.
- Take responsibility for capturing, clarifying, and prioritizing critical ambiguous tasks. Drive action plans to address critical issues throughout the production project lifecycle.
- Drive process, procedure, and methodology improvements to optimize work efficiency at the team and organizational level.
Must Haves (Basic Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline (computer science, software, systems, computer or related field of study)
- 5-8+ years professional experience in Consumer Electronics or Automotive Industry
- Bi-lingual – proficient in English speaking/reading/writing
- Proven record of taking customer requirements from design to production
- Familiarity with microprocessor/controller based hardware designs, System/Software Architectures for automotive designs, and network topology
- Experience with CAN, Ethernet, LVDS Communication
- Experience with embedded hardware and serial communication tools (CANoe, CANape, etc..)
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, Experience with Structured problem solving techniques like 3L5Y, Fault Trees, Fishbone diagrams, etc
- The ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly and persuasively to peers, management and customers
- Self-motivated, well organized, flexible, works well with complex issues
- Ability to multi-task and work in team environment
- Excellent Communication and Leadership skills, bi-lingual speaking/reading/writing
- Passionate about creating innovation cutting-edge automotive products
Nice to Haves (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master’s degree in Systems or other engineering discipline
- Microcontroller/Embedded system & software requirements & design
- Troubleshooting, Debugging Hardware/Software, Failure mode analysis, Structured problem solving skills
- Customer Requirements management tools experience
- Basic knowledge of Programming (C or other language)
- Vehicle communication & Network management
- Functional Safety or Cybersecurity knowledge/background/experience
- Experience working in an Agile development team
- Familiarity with system/software development processes ( Automotive SPICE) and tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Polarion, etc.)
- Experience with vehicle protocols – (e.g. CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
- Experience with low level drivers - SPI, I2C, and/or Ethernet drivers
- Experience with developing SW on microcontrollers (e.g. Renesas, Infineon, Freescale, TI, Qualcomm, etc.)
- Experience working on global project
- Experience with Automotive Diagnostics
